This home kept the single story nature of its neighborhood and provided the additional space the owners wished for by the use of a basement. The basement was over excavated leaving south facing courtyard with a stair to the rear yard. This allows access to the outdoors from the lower level as well as an abundance of natural light to serve the lower level. The basement is also used for their adult children’s band practices which are acoustically contained in the lower level.
